The Stonechat Sings

A Siberian stonechat (a warm-buff female) perches at the very tip of a twig, bill open in song, against a pastel wash of soft light. Delicate and full of life. Fun fact: The stonechat gets its name from its call — a hard "tsak-tsak" like two pebbles being knocked together — and this long-distance migrant breeds across Siberia before wintering in the warmth of South Asia.
