Munia Pair

Two scaly-breasted munias share a slender reed against a wash of lush green. Their finely scalloped breast feathers — the source of their name — are on full display in the soft light. Fun fact: Also called the "spice finch" or "nutmeg mannikin," the scaly-breasted munia is a busy seed-eater that weaves a large, messy domed nest and often roosts in tight, sociable clusters.
