The Hidden Sunbird

An olive-backed sunbird (a female, in soft olive-yellow) peeks out from a tangle of dried foliage, its slender curved bill catching the light. A quiet, intimate glimpse of a garden jewel. Fun fact: Sunbirds are the Old World's answer to hummingbirds — they sip nectar with tube-like tongues and can hover briefly — and the female weaves an extraordinary hanging, purse-shaped nest with a little porch over the entrance.
