The Barred Owlet

An Asian barred owlet (jungle owlet) sits square-on to the camera, its finely barred chest and piercing yellow eyes rendered in crisp detail against a soft green field. Compact and fierce. Fun fact: This little owl is a bold daytime hunter that punches well above its weight, taking prey as large as itself — and to fool attackers it has dark "false eyes" on the back of its head so it always seems to be watching.
