Owlet in the Hollow

A spotted owlet peers out from a tree cavity, round-headed and bright-eyed, framed by rough bark. Half-curious, half-cross — the classic expression of this pint-sized owl. Fun fact: Despite being a night bird, the spotted owlet is often active by day, and its habit of bobbing and swivelling its head helps it judge distance — owls can't move their eyes in their sockets, so they move the whole head instead.
