The Monitor's Doorway

A Bengal monitor lizard peers out from the mouth of an earthen burrow, its beaded, armoured skin blending into the red soil. Watchful and prehistoric — a dragon in miniature. Fun fact: Bengal monitors are superb diggers and swimmers that can hold their breath for many minutes, and they'll happily commandeer an abandoned burrow or termite mound rather than dig their own home.
